Google Analytics 4 and Moonlit Tools

Short answer

Moonlit Tools connects to one GA4 property per website with Google's read-only Analytics permission. It saves landing-page visits, engagement, key events, AI assistant visits and ecommerce purchase counts, and shows them next to scan findings. GA4 data adds context and priority. It never changes your Moon Score.

What Moonlit Tools Reads

Each sync asks the GA4 Data API for two matching 28-day periods, so changes are compared fairly:

Landing pages: sessions, engaged sessions, engagement rate, average engagement time, views per session, key events and key event rate, split by device and default channel group.
AI assistant visits: sessions that GA4 puts in its AI Assistant channel, with source, medium and landing page.
Ecommerce purchases by landing page: the count of purchases only. Moonlit Tools asks for no revenue, refund or currency fields.

Permissions Moonlit Tools Needs

Google's analytics.readonly scope. Moonlit Tools can read reports. It cannot change your property, tags or settings.
You choose the GA4 property for each website. Moonlit Tools warns you when the property's website does not match.
Tokens are encrypted before they are saved, and you can disconnect at any time in Settings.

What Moonlit Tools Uses It For

Priority: a recommendation on a landing page with recorded purchases can move up the list. The evidence names the page and the count.
Tracking health: when many sessions have no landing page, Moonlit Tools suggests fixing tracking before trusting page-level numbers.
Did the fix work: when you finish a task, Moonlit Tools saves a baseline for the affected pages and compares the same numbers later.
AI search: AI assistant visits show up on the AI Search page, labeled as GA4 data, separate from readiness scores.

GA4 numbers are observations. They never change Website Health or AI Readiness.

How to Connect

Scan your website in Moonlit Tools.
Open Settings, choose the website and choose Connect next to Google Analytics.
Sign in with Google, approve read-only access and pick the property.
Moonlit Tools runs the first sync. It refreshes before a scan when the saved data is more than 12 hours old, and whenever you choose refresh.
